Mixed berries sit on top of this hearty oatmeal breakfast as a fresh topping with bursts of flavor. Turmeric creates the deep golden color in this Golden Oatmeal recipe while providing several health benefits including fighting inflammation.

Golden Oatmeal with Cinnamon Sugar Berries

INGREDIENTS

    For the Oatmeal:

  • 2 cups milk
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 teaspoons turmeric powder
  • 2 teaspoons maple syrup
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 cup old fashioned oats
  • For the Berry Topping:

  • 1 cup California Giant mixed berries
  • ¼ cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon

DIRECTIONS

      • Bring the milk, cinnamon, vanilla, turmeric, maple syrup, and salt to a boil, whisking occasionally until well combined.
      • Stir in the oats and cook over medium heat for 5 minutes. Let stand and thicken slightly.
      • For berry topping, stir together the sugar and cinnamon and then toss with mixed berries.
      • To serve, divide the oatmeal mixture into two bowls and spoon ½ cup berries in the center of each.
