Mud and racing under the lights challenged the California Giant Berry Farms/Specialized riders on day two of the Cincy3 Cyclocross Festival on Saturday night. After a tough first lap, Meredith Miller rallied to finished fourth with teammate Elle Anderson behind in fifth place in the elite women’s race. Reigning USA Under23 champion Yannick Eckmann finished seventh in the elite men’s race and Cody Kaiser was 17th. The race held at Kingswood Park in the Cincinnati suburb of Mason was the sole C1 ranked event this weekend.
“It was muddy and heavy, really heavy. It was fun, the first muddy course we’ve had that I’ve ridden on. The funny thing is that most of the mud, if not all of it, was created by the power washers draining onto the course.” Miller said. The heavier mud sections were the aftermath of heavy rain the previous Thursday.
Another great day of racing for the California Giant Berry Farms/Specialized team on Sunday. Elle Anderson continued her winning ways on day two of the Great Brewers Gran Prix of Gloucester, claiming her fourth UCI cyclocross victory in a row. Recovering from an early flat, teammate Meredith Miller raced to third and Yannick Eckmann topped the U23 podium and finished seventh in the men’s elite race.
